TCB! The best there ever was on Atari ST, inventors (with Sync) of the "Syncscroll" technique which enabled "hardware scrolling" on the ST. Coders of the Thalion game Enchanted Lands which was the first (and one of the only?) games to utilise the technique...

OK one... I do not know the history behind this one. I am not too fond of ST's "left-over" (sorry for such a word....) architecture which made this machine quite tuff to programm, rapidely outdated and a modest one comparing to the competition.

Makes the scroller nice & fast if you don't have to mask/or anything, just shovel in pre-shifted gfx :) But of course you're right, it's fugly!

I have no idea how easy or hard things are to do on the ST - never coded one so I can't comment on the technicalities but this intro is OK for me. The thing I find most interesting about the ST is that, seeing as it was a bunch of ex Commodore employees taken to Atari by Jack Tramiel who devloped it, it's actually the 16 bit successor to the C64 rather than the Amiga.
